Cummins Honored for Recognition of Diversity Values

Cummins is honored to be named one of DiversityInc's Top 50 Companies for Diversity for the 12th consecutive year, further emphasizing the focus and determination we place on achieving our core value of Diversity and Inclusion. Cummins ranked No. 12 on the 2018 annual list, which included more than 1,000 participating companies.

"The more we grow and expand globally, the more important it is that we attract and develop employees from around the world who have the knowledge and skills to work effectively in the markets in which we do business," said Kelley Bertoux Creveling, Executive Director, Global Diversity and Right Environment at Cummins. "We're at our best when we fully include those unique perspectives, experiences and languages – truly leveraging the power of diversity and inclusion."

The DiversityInc Top 50 list, issued annually since 2001, recognizes the nation's top companies for diversity and inclusion management. These companies excel in such areas such as hiring, retaining and promoting women; minorities; people with disabilities; lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) individuals; and veterans.

The DiversityInc Top 50 ranking is based on empirical data obtained through a survey completed by participating organizations. The survey is the most rigorous, data-driven analysis gauging detailed demographics based on race/ethnicity and gender at some of the largest U.S. employers, all in an effort to better assess initiatives to hire, retain and promote women, minorities, people with disabilities, LGBTQ individuals and veterans.

This year, in addition to making the Top 50 list, Cummins was also named to three of DiversityInc's specialty lists:

  • #9 for Top Companies for Supplier Diversity
  • #7 for Top Companies for Executive Women
  • #20 for Top Companies for Executive Diversity Councils

"Along with the work we're doing internally, we're honored to be recognized for our valued partnerships with diverse suppliers," said James Gruwell, Executive Director of Strategic Purchasing. "Our diverse supplier partners help contribute to the overall economic growth and well-being of our communities and provide Cummins and our customers with tremendous value each and every day. I'm proud of these partnerships and the work our Supply Chain professionals do each day to drive this mission."

We are proud of our long legacy of commitment to and recognition of diversity and inclusion and celebrate our employees' dedication to making Cummins a great place to work.
