Small business self-certification due by October 31, 2023

Are you a current small business supplier to Cummins?  If so, Cummins Inc. needs your company's small business self-certification.  The U.S. government in support of small business engagement in the production of not only their products but overall use of small businesses has defined a method of reporting using the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS).   These requirements are to be enforced in the U.S., especially when the end product provider is supplying the U.S. Government as Cummins Inc. does.

NAICS codes are in reference to the products or services you produce or provide.  NAICS limits are specific to the product or service (so there is not one limit for size or revenue)   Typically, direct material will have a people size limit and indirect will have a revenue limit. NAICS size limit table: (https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-13/chapter-I/part-121#121.201)

The reporting method starts with a self-certification process.   If you are currently providing products to CMI, we need you to self-certify. If you meet the parameters as defined in the previous website link for the product or service you provide to CMI.  Click on the link below and fill out the self-certification form, include all applicable NAICS codes for your business. Self-certification form can cover multiple NAICS codes and should be completed once a year. (Small Business Self-Certification)   The attached sheet is also a quick reference guide for your use to look up multiple part noun names that you provide so you can self-certify all applicable NAICS codes at one time.

RFQs in the future will contain a required question (below) that asks if you are a small business as defined by the NAICS size limit for that component as defined in the size limit table.   Since this is applicable to only U.S. businesses, all Foreign Businesses should reply N/A.  If you are a US company that does not meet the size limit, answer the question by denoting NO.   If you are a US business, with or without entities outside the US but your overall size is under the limit, answer the question by denoting YES to this required question.

Required RFQ Question:

Does your company qualify as a small business under the NAICS code (or related code) for the products you currently produce for Cummins Inc.  per applicable SBA regulations (13 CFR Part 121)?  Size limits can be found at this website link:
