Cummins shines at NMSDC trade show with Lego replica of engine (2019)
Earlier this month at the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) trade show, Cummins inspired customers and suppliers with a replica of QSK 95 engine made from Lego building blocks. Cummins customers, such as Navistar, Siemens and others, stopped by to enjoy the unique trade show installation. Leading up to the event, Cummins Diversity Procurement team, the Distribution Business Unit (DBU) Atlanta office and a team of young people worked together to conceptualize and execute the Lego engine that was featured in the Cummins booth.
“The positive response we received at the show is a testament to what is possible because our people continually live the value of teamwork and excellence,” said Helena Hutton, Diversity Procurement Director.
The trade show had thousands of participants in attendance, and the Cummins booth enjoyed many visitors who were treated to a STEM-focused interactive experience with the Lego version of a Cummins engine product. The attraction presented a unique opportunity to build community and strengthen business connections with some of Cummins customers.
“Some of our customers require that we engage the services of diverse suppliers, so they were impressed by our active presence at the show,” added Hutton.
The NMSDC is an organization that advances business opportunities for certified minority business enterprises and connects them to corporate members. For many years, Cummins has participated in the NMSDC trade show in alignment with the company’s longstanding commitment to promoting Diversity and Inclusion among all stakeholders, including vendors and suppliers.
